For centuries the special quality of Sweden steel has been well known. The small town Uddeholm, about 270 km away from Stockholm, has contributed enormously to this outstanding reputation over the past 300 years
The Uddeholm-group was listed on the stock exchange in Stockholm. The quality of Uddeholm band steel for saw blades was considered to be unattainable. Although the business location has been closed for a long time – Uddeholm now has 619 inhabitants – the Uddeholm brand has remained.
The special quality of Sweden steel
The company was taken over in 1991 by the Austrian company Voest Alpine. Voest Alpine was dissolved in 1995 and changed into Böhler-Uddeholm AG. Because of that, the second largest band steel producer, Sandvik, remained alone in Sweden. In 2012, Sandvik stopped producing band steel. Böhler-Uddeholm continues producing band steel and sells it under the brand UDDEHOLM. The quality is still excellent and the differences are not as strong as before, but the higher price for Uddeholm steel still remains. Nevertheless many saw millers swear on it, even if the steel does not come from Sweden anymore, but from Austria. If you want to try the UDDEHOLM sawblades, now would be the right opportunity. For a limited time, we are offering sawblades from 80 mm width alternatively out of UDDEHOLM steel. The surcharge is only 16 € per sawblade. Please note that the delivery time may be a bit longer.
