… then we are talking about SERRA, a success story that began in 1987 for the Fritz family. Back then, the idea was to saw the logs from the own forest with a horizontal band saw on site. This unique invention was introduced at the “Central Agricultural Festival” in Munich the very same year. A first for Germany. The interest was correspondingly great. Two years of expert development followed: precision, durability and performance. These were the pillars upon which the production-ready model was designed. At the end of 1989, the first three mobile sawmills passed the technical inspection. This was the moment SERRA (Latin for ‘saw’) Maschinenbau GmbH was born, on 1 January 1990.
