Appley Sawmill & Wood Yard relies on stationary sawmill technology from SERRA
The family-run company Appley Sawmill & Wood Yard, located near Wellington (Somerset, UK), processes regional roundwood using a stationary SERRA SL130i. The bandsaw technology is used to produce untreated sawn timber products, tailored to individual customer requirements.
The product range includes cladding, decking boards, garden timber and wood chips. The main wood species processed are Douglas fir, larch and cedar – sustainably sourced from the region and known for their natural durability.
“The SL130i enables us to process even longer logs precisely and efficiently. This is crucial for our product variety and quality,” says the Appley Sawmill team.
Another key element in production is sharpening technology: Appley Sawmill also uses the SERRA Shark 200 to maintain their saw blades. The team comments:
“This precision piece of equipment saves us time, money and enables us to cut correctly to the required specification each and every time.”
The sawmill supplies both commercial customers such as timber construction companies and building contractors, as well as private customers. In addition to standard dimensions, custom formats are also offered – a benefit made possible by the flexible technology in use.
