SERRA Project planning

The art of project planning is to logically combine all machinery within a sawmill plant.
Roller conveyors and transverse conveyors ensure a continuous flow of material.

SERRA guarantees best solutions for your business

With a solution from SERRA with a higher output, an additional resaw is recommended. Edging machines, circular resaws and band saws are available. Frequently, multiple band saws and resaws are used in the planning process. Installations with, e.g. two block band saws, one edging saw and one circular resaw have an output of about 100 cubic meters or more per layer and have many advantages compared to large sawmills:

Your advantages
  • Subsequent expansion is possible and it is not necessary to decide on your output on the outset, so that you can run a profitable business.
Your industrial plant grows with your personal requirements.
  • You allocate your production to multiple units. If one unit is not operational, the other units can still continue to work. Your plant remains operational.
  • No costly foundation is needed. All that is required is a base plate
  • You can get started quickly, allowing you to amortise your plant faster.
  • Flexible cuts with various cutting dimensions, different log diameters and types of wood are possible.

Standard expansion modules

The following standard modules are available for facilitating the flow of wood on the log band saw. All modules are operated by the operating company of the sawmill. Ejectors and unwinders are also available for mobile sawmills, with cutting unwinders being foldable.

Log feeder with log separation

Separately conveys the logs from the piles to the saw. There, the log lifter arms lift the log from the stand and place it on the base frame. For logs up to 70 cm ø. Loading capacity about 10 solid cubic meters. Driven by electric gear engine. Direct operation by the sawmill operator.

Unloading arms

When turning the logs, cut bark and sidings fall off the log and onto the receivers. At the end, the unloading arms are raised at an angle and the main goods roll off to the side. If chain turners are available, the unloading arms are not needed.

Receivers

The ejected wood is taken over by the receivers. Three different variants are available. Version 1: The wood subsequently rolls onto the ground, from where it can be transported off by a conveyor belt, for example. Version 2: The wood remains on a metal holder when lifting the receivers, from where it can be conveniently removed by hand or with a forklift. Version 3:
When lifting the receivers, the wood slides onto a transverse conveyor on the installed rollers.
The transverse conveyor forwards the wood to the resaw via a roller conveyor

Board separator

The cuttings are set down on the board separator by the unwinders. Here, the cuttings are stacked. But for further processing by the resaw, these must lie next to each other. The board separator deals with this task and forwards the cuttings to a buffer table.

Buffering station

The cuttings are set down on the buffer table either directly from the saw via the receivers, or they are received via the intermediate board separator station.
Different versions are available. Either with wheels for easy manual further transport or by means of chain drive.

Roller conveyors

If the cuttings are then fed from the buffer table directly to a resaw, the boards from the buffer table are first put on a roller conveyor. This unit is available either driven or simply with wheels with bearings.

Push-back system

Another cuttings removal variant is the push-back system. Each board is taken along by the returning saw head after cutting. Next, the system forwards these to a conveyor belt, which transports the boards directly to the resaw.

Board cleaning brushes

Expensive woods must be cleaned of sawdust before drying. This is what the brush system is used for, which are installed on the roller conveyors or conveyor belts.
