SERRA unveils World Premieres at LIGNA 2025
At this year’s LIGNA, celebrating its 50th anniversary, SERRA Maschinenbau made a bold statement about the future of wood processing. With three world premieres, the company reaffirmed its role as an innovation leader in sawmill technology.
On Monday, May 26, 2025, SERRA celebrated the world premiere of its new machines directly at its exhibition booth. CEO Christian Mayer personally introduced the innovations and provided a glimpse into future developments:

Three Innovations for the Future of Wood Processing
1. SERRA SX 140 Bandsaw – Power Meets Flexibility
The new SX 140 was designed as a modular high-performance sawmill for professional use – both stationary and mobile. It impressed with:
- Cutting capacity for logs up to 140 cm in diameter and 106 cm cutting width
- Precision through powerful motors and optional frequency converter
- Robust construction made of hot-dip galvanized steel
- Modularity for customized upgrades and retrofitting
- User-friendly operation for increased efficiency and safety
The SX 140 was accompanied by the new SERRA CX control system, setting new standards in digitalization and ergonomics.
2. SERRA CX Control System – Intelligent Automation
Developed in collaboration with the WINTERSTEIGER software department, the new control system offered:
- A 15.6-inch TFT touchscreen with intuitive user interface
- A joystick with 13 functions for precise machine control
- Automatic feed rate control for maximum efficiency
- Maintenance and error diagnostics system
- Remote maintenance via LAN/WLAN
- Semi-automatic operation and programmable cutting programs
- Optional frequency converter control for highest precision
This control system formed the digital core of the SX 140 and marked a milestone in sawmill automation.
3. BS 800 Edger Circular Saw – Versatility in Post-Processing
The new BS 800 impressed as an edger or multi-blade saw with:
- Two saw shafts (160 mm fixed, 120 mm movable)
- Up to seven circular saw blades
- 22 kW electric motor
- Feed speed from 5 to 30 m/min
- Optional mobile setup or base frame
- Precise edging width adjustment, laser guide, and roller tables
